LUDMILA PAGLIERO
Étoile Dancer of the Paris Opera Ballet
Born in Buenos Aires, Ludmila Pagliero began her dance studies in 1993 at the Instituto Superior de Arte of the Colón Theater under the guidance of Olga Ferri, an iconic figure in Argentine dance.
Her professional career began in the 2000s. At the age of 16, Ludmila joined the National Ballet of Santiago in Chile, where she was promoted to soloist two years later.
During her time there, she performed in Sleeping Beauty, In the Night, Giselle, The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Theme and Variations, and Serenade.
In 2003, she won the 7th International Ballet Competition in New York, receiving the Igor Youskevitch Prize (a one-year contract with the American Ballet Theatre).
That same year, she decided to challenge herself once again, this time in France.
Ludmila became the first Argentine dancer to join the prestigious Corps de Ballet of the Paris Opera Ballet.
In 2007, she was promoted to Coryphée.
In 2008, she was promoted to Sujet.
She performed lead roles such as Garance in Children of Paradise by J. Martinez, Could It Be Death? by M. Béjart, the white pas de deux in Proust and the Intermittences of the Heart by R. Petit, and The Nutcracker by R. Noureev.
In 2010, she was promoted to Première Danseuse and was selected to perform roles such as the Star in The Little Dancer of Degas by P. Bart, Paquita by P. Lacotte, and Suite en Blanc by S. Lifar.
She also performed lead roles in various Rudolf Nureyev choreographies, including Odette-Odile in Swan Lake, Gamzatti in La Bayadère, and one of the stepsisters in Cinderella.
In The Lady of the Camellias by J. Neumeier, she portrayed both Manon and Prudence.
She also danced in Apollo, La Valse, and Dances at a Gathering by G. Balanchine, Le Loup by R. Petit, and La Source by J.G. Bart.
On March 22, 2012, Ludmila was named Étoile after her performance as Gamzatti in Rudolf Nureyev’s La Bayadère.
